Pavtube DVD Ripper enables you to play the DVD videos on your iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, iRiver PMP player, Creative Zen, etc. by converting DVD to the compatible formats with the devices you want. You can not only rip DVD to AVI, WMV, MP4 (MPEG-4, H.264) video files, but also rip DVD to MP3, WAV, W4A audio files. This DVD ripping software provides more advanced functions for you to set the video and audio to particular effect by cropping and trimming the video, changing the audio volume, audio track, setting the subtitle, and so on.

Knowledge about DVD
If you get a DVD to play on your DVD-ROM, you will find there is VIDEO_TS folder, which contain VOB, IFO, BUP files. Generally, there is no content within the AUDIO_TS folder, as the VOB files include the audio and video data.

By using Pavtube DVD Ripper, you can get the right files for your portable player with the simplest steps:
1. add files to the program.
2. set the output format.
3. click the "Start" button to convert files.
However, this tutorial is to guide you with the complete steps, which you can take with Pavtube DVD Ripper.

1. Download and install Pavtube DVD Ripper.
2. Run the program, and add DVD videos from the DVD disc or DVD folder with IFO and VOB files by clicking Load DVD or Load IFO.

3. Set output format, advanced settings
You can choose from the various formats for conversion with Pavtube DVD Ripper. You can choose the format according to name with usage.

Click on the "Settings" button, if you want to set the advanced settings like video codec, bit rate, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio codec, bit rate, etc. Just click on the item you want to specify, and a drop down button will show up. Click to find the option you need.

4. Set output path
Click on the browse button to change the output folder for the conversion. Click the "Open" button to open the folder.

5. Preview, take snapshot
You can select a chapter or a title to preview on the right pane of the main interface. Double click on the file name, or click the play button under the preview window. Then, you can make decision about the files to convert. Check the titles and/or chapters for conversion.

You may take snapshots of the playing video, if you want to save some images for future use, such as displaying as thumbnail, wallpaper and so on.

6. Change subtitle, audio track, and angle.
If the DVD movie includes subtitle and audio track with more than one language, you can click on the option box to choose the language you want to show on the video. You can preview the effect immediately, after changing the subtitle/audio track.

If the DVD movie has been recorded with different angles, you can choose one angle to enjoy.
Note: Most of the DVD movies now do not include multiple angles, as it takes more work and the angles occupy disc space.
Tick the checkbox for "Merge into one file" to get the checked chapters with the selected duration and effect in one output file. The output file name will be the same as the first checked file in the sequence.

7. Custom Settings: effect, duration, image
Select a file, and click on the Customize button, then you can change the visual and audio effect directly.
7.1. Change brightness, contract, etc. under the "Effect" tab:
Drag the slider bar for Brightness, Contrast, and Volume to preview the effect on the right pane.
If the DVD image does not display correctly, you can tick the checkbox for "Flip" to get it right.

When you find the effect is better after changing the settings, you can choose to apply the effect settings to other files. Tick the checkbox for "Apply to Child Chapters" if the file you select is a title, or "Apply to All" if the file you select is a chapter. Otherwise, you may click the "Reset" button to gain the default settings.

7.2. Change duration under the "Trim" tab.
Click on the "Trim" tab, and you will face the window below.

Enter the time point for the start time and the end time. You shall click the "Apply" button after changing. Otherwise, the change will not be valid. Alternatively, you can drag the slider bars to change the start time and end time.
7.3. Crop image
Click on the "Crop" tab, and you can change the image pixels with the following window.

Select an option under the drop down list of the "Letter Box", drag the dashed frame on the preview pane, or enter value on the boxes for the four positions to set the pixels you want to cut off. If the file you select to customize is a title, you can tick the checkbox for "Apply to Child Chapters" to get other files with the same settings under the "Crop" tab.

8. Preferences settings: thumbnail, max process
You can change the preferences settings of all files and the ripper, after choosing Options > Preferences.

Set the ripper to overwrite the existing file on the output folder, rename the output file name, or skip the conversion of the file with the same name.
Change the Max Process, if the source DVD from a DVD folder on your hard disk, rather than a DVD on the DVD-ROM, the output folder is a folder on your hard disk, not a portable device.
Under the "Thumbnail" tab, you can set the size and the default output format and output folder of the snapshots.

Note: The THM format is specified for PSP.

9. Change output file name
Click on the name on "Destination File", and you can enter the name you want for the file. Press the "Enter" key on the keyboard to save the change.

Note: The file name is only available when you keep the title/chapter checked in the front of the "Name".

10. Start conversion
When you get all the settings to your choice, click on the "Start" button and the checked files will be listed on the "Ripping" window for conversion.

You can let the ripper to do the conversion, and get the output files for your computer, iPod, iPhone, PSP, Apple TV, Zune, etc.
